Baordstun: Your Knox County Ag Literacy Coordinator
Kathy Boydstun, from rural Abingdon is the Knox County Ag Literacy Coordinator. kathy is in charge of coordinating and implementing all local ag literacy programs and efforts. She can help you incorporate agriculture into all your classroom subjects through lesson plans, materials, workshops, and special programs.  Please don't hesitate to contact Kathy for your ag literacy needs! Her office is located in the Knox County Farm Bureau, 180 S Soangetaha Road, Suite 101, Galesburg, and she can be reached at 309/342-2036 or ag_educator@knoxcfb.org

Why should you teach Ag?
Ag allows students to ponder, hypothesize, experiment & imagine about subjects from corn, soybeans & livestock to conservation, biotechnology & engineering.  Giving teachers like you the tools to drive these students to question, learn & grow.

Are you interested in
FREE learning Kits?
The Knox County Farm Bureau houses several AgriScience
and AgriLearning Kits for elementary teachers to use
throughout the year. These kits are available free of charge
and all inclusive, containing the materials to conduct the
many lesson plans contained within the kit.

The AgriLearning Kits are science based kits with
experiments that can be adapted to students K-8th grade.
For example, teach your students about the process of
making yogurt and the need for bacterial activity to do so
with our Dairy Delights AgriScience Kit. The kit contains
all the needed materials and ingredients, along with the
lesson plan for the experiment.

The AgriLearning Kits tend to be for younger students.
These kits contain books, posters, and activities on
specific subject areas. For example, learn about the ag
through pizza. The Pondering Pizza AgriLearning Kit
contains many books and fun activities for teachers to teach kids about the many ingredients of pizza that come from agriculture!

See the information below regarding the many AgriScience and AgriLearning Kits that our office has available for your classroom. Simply notify the Knox County Farm Bureau office to reserve one or any of the kits available.

Plans are underway to develop additions to the AgriScience & the AgriLearning Kits for elementary teachers that reinforce reading & science standards. This program is making a difference!
